Test generation
Deriving test cases from named design techniques rather than writing them ad hoc.
The international standard defines the techniques used within the test design and implementation process, and states what a derived case is for: executed, it produces evidence that a requirement has been met, or that a defect is present. That criterion is the guard against the generated test that passes without exercising anything.
